What is a Brow Lift?
A procedure that restores the eyebrows to a more youthful position and decreases the heaviness on the upper eyelids.
Why a Brow Lift?
As consequence of the aging process, the eyebrows and forehead descend – crowding the upper eyelid area by increasing the excess of skin. We often use our eyes and eyebrows to communicate emotion, so a subtle change in this area can greatly affect the way we are perceived. The saggy eyebrows appear heavy, thickened and lead to a misconstrued angry or tired look. In some cases, women have trouble placing eye make-up on their eyelids.
A brow lift is a procedure designed to not only restore the eyebrows to a more youthful, natural appearance, but the forehead to a smooth, lifted position. It appeals specifically to those with active lifestyles and careers looking for a more confident, rested look.
Procedure and Results
Northwest Facial Aesthetic Center’s physicians will allow the brow and forehead to be repositioned without creating a “surprised” look. They will achieve the optimal improvement and attract attention to opened, more inviting eyes.
A brow lift can be done in isolation, but it is commonly combined with an upper blepharoplasty. Modern technology has improved the way we perform this procedure with the use of endoscopes through small incisions hidden within the hairline. This will lead to a quicker recovery. In the endoscopic approach, 4 small incisions are made within the hair to insert a specialized camera (endoscope), which allows the surgeon to visualize the area. In the open approach, an incision is made along or behind the hairline in order to perform the procedure.
Patients go home after the procedure with a bandage around the head that is removed on the following day. It’s preferable that the patient has someone at home for the first 24 hours after surgery. The patient can have a headache with a tightness sensation that can be easily treated with pain medications.

When properly performed, a brow lift is a great procedure that restores a youthful and energetic appearance – eliminating the angry and fatigued look common to aged eyebrows. The procedure usually takes 1-3 hours to complete and is performed at Northwest ENT Surgery Center. A combination of local anesthesia and sedation is most often used, although it can be performed under general anesthesia.
