What is a neck lift?
A Neck Lift improves the appearance of loose or sagging tissue in the neck. It is often performed in combination with a lower facelift, but may be performed as a separate procedure in appropriate individuals. The procedure involves several key steps including removal of extra skin, tightening of the neck muscle layer, and removal, repositioning or sculpting of facial and neck fat.
Why Neck lift?
If done very carefully, with meticulous attention to every detail, a neck lift will deliver natural, youthful results and restor harmony to the aging face.
Procedure and Results
When performed alone, a neck lift procedure typically takes about 2 hours, but may take one more hour when performed with a full facelift. Our physicians perform an operation that addresses the deeper tissues, including the muscles and fat underneath the surface of the skin. The muscle layer of the neck (platysma) and lower cheek (SMAS) is lifted, re-suspending the tissues to achieve a natural, long-term result all while enhancing the youthful contours of your neck and lower face.
Complementary procedures sometime can be performed at the same of a neck lift. Liposuction and fat sculpting of the area underneath the chin can be performed during a neck lift. Fat transfer (also called fat grafting) to the face may be performed at the same time and involves the use of your own fat cells to restore facial volume.
